Honor’s long-suffering smartphone, shown in London at the height of the U.S. sanctions against China. These days, the mobile division of Huawei could not even navigate: show the Honor 20 along with the Honor 20 Pro or leave only one. As a result, we decided to present both devices, but I’ll bring Honor 20 to Russia. I won’t even joke about how many times I had to rewrite the text about the first look at the new items.

Nevertheless, despite all the difficulties of the Chinese company, the device still gets to our country. Already now on the official website hangs a prepared page with the start of pre-order on June 14.

A little offtopic to briefly explain the situation on Huawei / Honor devices: all current devices will interact with the Google Play app store without any problems, the only caveat is that they will not receive new versions of the Google Android OS. However, as you know, smartphones are equipped with their own proprietary shell, so the versions of the “android”, by and large, do not play a special role. According to statistics from Google itself (dated May 7, 2019), the Android 9.0 Pie operating system is installed on only 10.4% of devices. Other ten vendors will receive the “top ten” at the end of this year at best, but in reality – by the middle of next. Therefore, I’m sorry for the slang, I would not take a steam bath about the latest version of the OS for Huawei / Honor.

Returning to the Honor 20 smartphone. At the moment it will be the flagship model of the Honor brand. The device received a top-end Kirin 980 processor, a lot of cameras for all occasions, a capacious battery and fast charging, a high-quality screen with an IPS matrix. It has two original chips: a front camera in the display and an additional camera for shooting macro objects.

When buying a Honor 20 (cost 28,000 rubles), True Wireless Honor FlyPods lite headphones (they cost 8,000 rubles by themselves) come as a gift.

There are no major changes regarding the Honor View 20 in the Honor 20. Tactilely it is the same relatively plump case, large dimensions and weight. The rear panel received a new design, which was called Dynamic Holographic Design. Let me remind you that in View 20 on the lid was a mirror image in the form of the Latin letter “V”. In the case of Honor 20, there is no such picture: in the reflection of the back panel you see a slightly distorted reality with the effect of a three-dimensional “curved mirror”: Triple 3D Mesh is a compression method that combines three layers of materials, including glass, a color layer and a depth layer.

“Our R&D team managed to not only compress these three thin layers into one, but also place them on top of the curved surface of the casing. After lengthy trial and error, the developers used a special pump to make the layers more closely contact each other. Due to this complex process, only 20 out of 100 panels meet our quality standards. This indicates a technological breakthrough of the merger of three layers of different densities on an uneven surface. In the end, we get a better look and comfortable hand grip. ”

Words are hard to describe. I can’t say that it’s cool, but rather original. In photographs and in video, it will not be possible to fully convey the impression due to the optical characteristics of the camera lenses. We had a black version of the “twenty” on our review. Visually – it’s just a black glass block. Blue looks much more spectacular. An oleophobic coating is applied on both sides of the smartphone. Therefore, fingerprints should not worry you.

In the upper thin die of the front panel there is a light sensor, an event indicator, a spoken speaker under a metal mesh. The speaker is loud, the interlocutor is audibly legible, the timbre is shifted to the mid frequencies. Since the speaker is at the very edge, periodically had to position the phone near the ear so that it was comfortably audible. Sometimes the smartphone had to be kept almost sideways – another problem of modern frameless phones: there is no place for an adequate speaker location, so they can be distorted. A sad trend, in my opinion.

Despite its dimensions, the Honor 20 is excellent in the hand, I want to use it.

Bottom – microphone, USB-C and speaker. Here it is called “Virtual 9.1 surround sound.” Yes, the sound is rich and rich, loud and clear, but without using several speakers it is impossible to achieve surround sound.

On the left are the slide for two SIM cards. On the right is the mechanical power button into which the fingerprint scanner is integrated (I wonder how the Sony Mobile division reacted to this?). The idea is good. The button has sharp edges. This does not interfere with the work with the device, just a statement of fact. A little higher is the volume rocker.

And behind the smartphones there is such a story: a very large module with three lenses with a flash, and another camera was built in next, in my subjective opinion, this is a real rudiment.

The device received a display whose diagonal is 6.26 inches. The View 20 smartphone has a screen diagonal of 6.4 inches. The resolution of the new display is FullHD +, that is 2340×1080 pixels. Note that manufacturers have sharply refused high resolutions in almost all of their products. The Honor 20 matrix is made using IPS technology. Probably for a certain number of users this is a big plus. The differences between the screens of Honor 20 and View 20 I did not notice.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about this phone is the display with a hole for the front camera. The appearance of this design option is quite logical in itself: you need to make thin screen frames without cutouts, but somewhere you need to squeeze the camera for a selfie. As far as I know, now there are already working prototypes, where the camera for “self” is located under the screen.

By the way, at the presentation we were told that the dark space around the eye of the selfie camera in Honor 20 was slightly reduced. Comparing with View 20, I did not notice this.

You can hide the dark circle! However, the entire top line of notifications is filled with black. I think a completely pointless venture.

The brightness of white is 380 cd / m2, the brightness of black is 0.5 cd / m2, the contrast is 750: 1. In fact, these indicators are quite standard. At certain angles, the screen goes pinkish. In the light, the Honor 20 display behaves with dignity, the picture almost does not fade.

The smartphone received a battery capacity of 3750 mAh. Let me remind you that in View 20, a 4000 mAh battery.

The operating time of the Honor 20 is impressive – up to 7 hours of screen glow at auto brightness and about 30 hours without recharging. Dry numbers: playing videos at maximum brightness – 10.5 hours (up to 13 hours in the View 20), games – 5 hours (up to 5.5 hours in View 20).

Samsung did not want to release lightweight versions of its flagships for a long time, the A-series models were a conditional replacement, but they did not compete directly with the company’s flagships either in cost or in positioning. In 2020, Samsung is trying a new strategy, namely the expansion of the lineup due to semiflagans or lite lite versions, when the buyer can choose a model with good performance, but simplified features. For example, the S10 Lite is the formally lite S10 / S10 +, although there are a lot of differences from the older model. The name here plays the role of a marketing device in order to draw attention to the model and increase its attractiveness. Formally, the S10 Lite is more of an A-series smartphone than a Samsung flagship. On the other hand, this device may well be considered a flagship in the style of Chinese manufacturers. So, here is a top-end chipset, a lot of memory, an excellent screen and a number of other features. We’ll talk about the Lite version of Note10 in a separate article, we’ll immediately focus on the S10 Lite.

Who is this device for? Probably for those who want to buy a smartphone with good characteristics, but not for the maximum cost. Price positioning is appropriate, it is minus 25% of the cost of the original prototype (I do not take gray prices into account, since they are not an indicator, more about this in the conclusions).

The S10 Lite model turned out to be interesting, but it is extremely difficult to say whether this device will become a bestseller. We do not have a reference point for such an apparatus. Be it the flagship of the A-series, and I would not have doubts about how it will be sold. But since this is a new positioning, a new model that has never existed in the Samsung lineup, there is a lot of obscurity here. Let’s take a look at the device and evaluate its capabilities.

Design, dimensions, controls
Samsung’s flagships are more or less easy to recognize, but, like with other models, it’s recognizability of the rear panel – the color scheme, the design of the camera unit. In S10 Lite, we see three different colors – blue, black and white.

The case is made of plastic (glastic – plastic resembling glass), it has already been used in the A-series. This is a fairly strong and wear-resistant material. The device is similar to the A-series – good, high-quality performance, but there is no feeling of high cost. It is rather a design similar to the Chinese flagships, clearly a paraphrase of their design and materials.

Look at the camera unit, it is very different from the current flagships, rather it is an A-series, for example, A51. A protruding rectangular block, it does not interfere with carrying the device in your pocket, but it does not look very fit into the device. Memory, chipset, performance
The devices use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, this is a difference from the older models, where Exynos comes for Russia. The difference between the chipsets is very arbitrary, the rumor attributes Exynos miraculous properties, but these are solutions of the same level, and Exynos wins in some areas (for example, the pictures from the camera are more interesting).

To say that there are some lags in the UI is simply impossible, everything flies, the interface is very smooth and pleasant. Third-party programs also run without delay, and visually everything is perfect in speed.

The memory here is 6/128 GB, which is slightly less than what the S10 + offers, it has 8 GB of RAM.

Oppo today held an official presentation of its Oppo Reno 3 5G and Reno 3 Pro 5G smartphones. Gadgets received thin cases, high-quality displays and quad cameras.

The more expensive Reno 3 Pro 5G with a curved 6.5-inch AMOLED display (90 GHz screen refresh rate) is based on the Snapdragon 765G chipset and is available in two versions – with 8 GB of RAM and a 128 GB or 12 GB RAM and 256 GB drive. The device received a fingerprint sensor – it is built directly into the screen.

A 32 MP selfie camera is located in the upper left corner of the front panel. The main module of the Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G camera consists of four sensors: the main one at 48 MP, 13 MP telephoto cameras with 5x hybrid optical zoom, an 8 MP wide-angle lens and a 2 MP black and white sensor.

Judging by the 4025 mAh battery with support for fast charging at 30 W (charging time, the manufacturer claims, from 0 to 100% will be 56 minutes), the novelty will be able to work for a long time without recharging. The device weighs only 171 grams.

In China, for Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G they will ask for 3999 yuan (571 dollars) for the version with 8 GB of RAM and 4499 yuan (643 dollars) for the version with 12 GB of RAM.

As for the Oppo Reno 3 5G, it has a simpler 6.4-inch Full HD + AMOLED display (not curved). The smartphone is heavier – it weighs 181 grams. The hardware base is the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L chip. The main camera has a different configuration – the main sensor is 64 MP, the wide-angle is 8 MP, the black-and-white sensor is 2 MP and the macro camera is 2 MP. There is no telephoto camera, there is no optical zoom either. The front camera is one-on-one, like the more expensive version, but is located in the tear-shaped cutout in the upper part of the body in the middle. The power supply also has a capacity of 4025 mAh.

The cost of Reno 3 5G starts from 3399 yuan ($ 486) for the version with 8 GB of RAM and a 128 GB drive and reaches 3699 yuan ($ 528) for a model with 12 GB and a 128 GB flash drive.

Oppo Reno 3 5G and Reno 3 Pro 5G will be the first smartphones to run on the new version of the ColorOS 7 proprietary user interface (based on Android 10). Both are equipped with speakers that support Dolby Atmos.

The new models are equipped with a high-speed modem capable of working in fifth-generation mobile networks. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack.

The case thickness is only 8 mm. Reno 2, introduced a few months ago, was much thicker (9.5 mm).

Sales of Oppo Reno 3 5G and Reno Pro 5G with 8 GB of RAM will start on December 31, 2019. More expensive versions with 12 GB of RAM will appear in stores on January 10 of next year. But it is in China. When new items enter the world market is not reported.

OPPO introduced the flagship smartphone model called Find X2. Previously, the Find X series of devices was technologically unique and breakthrough. In a way, Find Xs were concepts for sale.

Today, Oppo’s strategy has changed: everything is aimed at satisfying ordinary users. Actually, that’s why there is nothing extraordinary in Find X2 – it is a relatively familiar smartphone on a modern chassis.

Appearance, controls
The novelty has received the classic design that we have seen over the past years: an impressive-sized case, smooth corners and, of course (much without them!), A screen with curved edges. The frames are made of metal, and the sides are made of glass.

The device is elongated, but still quite thick – about 8 mm. It’s good in the hand, but it’s such a pleasure to use a display that floats on the side faces. Handsomely? Undoubtedly! Practical? Not at all. Even the ancestor of this disgrace – Samsung – in the new devices used flat screens with a slight 2.5D rounding.

From the specifications you could understand that the AMOLED matrix is used here, the screen diagonal is 6.7 inches. The resolution is high – QHD +, that is, 3168 × 1440 pixels.

It is worth highlighting support for HDR10 + and 10 bit color, the refresh rate of the screen is 60 or 120 Hz. Moreover, the frequency of 120 Hz can be selected without restrictions: whether it is screen resolution, high brightness of the matrix or the launch of the game. The main thing is that the application has the ability to display a picture at 120 Hz.

If you use the Oppo Find X2 for several hours at a frequency of 120 Hz and pick up a regular smartphone with 60 Hz, it seems that the old device is a complete brake. That is, a high refresh rate is not marketing. At least I clearly see the difference between 60 and 120 Hz. This is expressed in the output of a very smooth image.

In addition, the sensor has a response of 240 Hz: it will be even more interesting to play shooters.

Another innovation is the Ultra Vision Engine processor. A hardware solution for motion compensation and HDR display. In the first case, the chip completes the missing frames in the video. This only works in streaming services or games. Writing a movie to memory and playing with high smoothness will not work.

The new Oppo Find X2 has a 4200 mAh battery. As I understand it, two 2100 mAh batteries are built inside the device.

The speed of RAM is 17 500 MB / s. In fact, not very much. We will write to the final software. The speed of the internal memory is 1300/630 MB / s – this is already an excellent speed!

I spent several hours with the device and here is what I can say from the results of a short test:

  • The curved screen is not the best solution
  • The lack of wireless charging is a strange thing in 2020 for the flagship
  • Cameras without frills. If it were an inexpensive smartphone, then there would be enough opportunities. And in the flagship I would like to zoom more than 2x optical. Where are the modules on 64 MP or even 108 MP?

Snapdragon 720g vs Snapdragon 730g

Both mobile platforms provide smooth gameplay on mid-range smartphones.

Following the launch of the Snapdragon 730G processor last year, Qualcomm released another new Snapdragon 720G processor. As the mobile gaming market is growing very fast, Qualcomm is trying to keep up and is developing low-cost gaming systems on a chip. As you can see, at the end of the model name there is a prefix “G”, which means that these are game processors for middle-class smartphones.

Also now there are not many devices on the market with a price tag from 13,000 to 15,000 rubles that work on Qualcomm and have good gaming performance. And the prices for smartphones with Snapdragon 730G are currently starting at 16,000 rubles. Thus, the new 720G processor should fill this gap. The new model in terms of specifications is not much different from the 730G, but there are still minor differences between them, which I will discuss in detail in this article.

The main difference between the Snapdragon 730G and 720G is in the cores. Although both processors are eight-core, they have a different architecture and clock speed. If the Snapdragon 720G has the Kryo 465 architecture, then the Snapdragon 730G boasts the more advanced Kryo 470.

If you go into the details of comparing cores, then the Snapdragon 720G has 8 cores. Two cores (Cortex-A76) are Kryo 465 Gold with a clock frequency of 2.3 GHz, and the remaining 6 cores (Cortex-A55) are Kryo 465 Gold with a clock frequency of 1.8 GHz.

And, although the Snapdragon 730G has the same number of cores, their clock speed is slightly lower. In the Snapdragon 730G, 2 cores (Cortex-A76) are Kryo 465 Gold with a clock frequency of 2.2 GHz, the remaining 6 (Cortex-A55) are Kryo 470 Silver with a clock frequency of 1.8 GHz.

As you can already understand, the performance of these two processors is about the same. Due to the better architecture, the Snapdragon 730G will have a slight advantage (several percent performance), but a higher clock speed of 720G will make single-threaded work with this processor as fast as with the 730G. Therefore, I believe that in this pair it is better to choose Snapdragon 720G, especially if you want to save.

Video card
As for the video card, both of these processors use the same Adreno 618 graphics processor. But the Snapdragon 730G graphics card is overclocked by 15%. Both chipsets also offer several advanced features that provide smoother gameplay. As for the API, the Snapdragon 730G supports the DX12 API, which is not supported by the 720G GPU. Thus, in terms of video card performance, I can say that the Snapdragon 730G is slightly ahead of 720G.

Both processors are manufactured using an 8nm process. So there is nothing to compare.

In terms of refresh rate, both processors have the same maximum – 60 Hz. Since these are mid-range processors, they do not support a refresh rate of 90 Hz or higher. As for the maximum resolution of the display, both 720G and 730G support resolutions up to Quad HD + and HDR10.

So in this area both of these processors have the same characteristics.

There are also no differences between the chipsets. You can count on the same ISP (Image Signal Processor), the Snapdragon 730G uses the Qualcomm 2X 14-bit Spectra 350 ISP, while the Snapdragon 720G uses the Qualcomm 2X 14-bit Spectra 350 ISP.

Both processors are capable of multi-frame noise reduction up to 48 MP (on one sensor). However, there are some differences.

Snapdragon 730G:
for one sensor: multi-frame noise reduction and delay of zero shutter at 30 frames per second up to 36MP
for two sensors: multi-frame noise reduction and delay of zero shutter at a speed of 30 frames per second up to 22MP
Snapdragon 720G:

In addition, both of these processors are capable of recording 4K UHD video at 30 frames per second. In the “slow motion” mode they are capable of shooting in 1080p quality at a speed of 120 frames per second, in 720p quality at a speed of 240 frames per second and in 720p quality at a speed of 960 frames per second with frame rate conversion.

Both Qualcomm gaming chipsets support the UFS 2.1 universal flash drive. As for RAM, both processors support dual-channel LPDDR4X up to 8 GB at a frequency of 1866 MHz. Thus, both of these models are completely identical in this aspect.


Both of these processors use the same Snapdragon X15 LTE modem. The edge download speed is up to 800 Mbit / s, upload speed up to 150 Mbit / s in a 4G LTE network.

In addition, both chips support Bluetooth 5.0, Dual 4G VoLTE, USB 3.1 and Quick Charge 4. Yes, both processors will not support 5G.

AI engine
It’s hard enough to say which processor is the best in this regard. In addition, the Snapdragon 720G features the Qualcomm Sensing Hub and Qualcomm Hexagon Scalar Accelerator, which the 730G doesn’t have.

Perhaps the main question that almost everyone will be asked is the numbering of models, why we immediately jumped from the tenth generation to the twentieth. At Samsung, this is explained by the fact that the S20 in all variants is a completely new platform, therefore, to emphasize the changes, it was decided to make such a leap in the name. The explanation has the right to life, but ordinary people will see exactly S11 in all these variations in these models, since the changes in comparison with 10s are not so huge. All devices remained exactly the same style, they feel like flesh and blood of the Samsung line. There is no fundamentally new software (OneUI 2.1, on the current flagships and not only on them version 2.0 of the interface). The same body materials that we have been accustomed to over the years are metal and Gorilla Glass 6. Other sizes due to different displays, and changed batteries.

Perhaps this is the history of 5G, since all devices support this technology by default? Maybe. But for many markets, including the Russian one, this is still technology for the near future, there are no networks as such, and it will not work to take advantage of 5G at home. It would be logical for some models to become cheaper by depriving them of a 5G modem, since it costs decent money, but they assured me that this would not happen. And without exception, the devices will be with him, only somewhere these features will be software disabled – and when you travel to another country with 5G networks, you will automatically get a modem and new speeds. The story sounds beautiful, especially in light of the fact that Samsung wants to become number one in sales of 5G devices in 2020, and I think that this will happen. But the market will clearly make its own adjustments, and we will not see S20 5G smartphones,

Updating the screens also does not look something like this: support for 120 Hz has appeared, the touch layer is 240 Hz. Good? Perhaps. But this is not something so unique as to talk about aspirated changes. Exactly the same situation with cameras – they are excellent, new features will please users, but they are perceived as expected.

Perhaps I picked the right word – the expected. What people expected in the S20 is the expected changes from generation to generation, they do not have any kind of leap in technology that would be critical. A year ago, when the “tens” were shown, everything was about the same, the cost of devices increased, and the number of fundamental changes was reduced, it became small. The situation is about the same here, and they are trying to neutralize this point with marketing, because 20 is more than 10, and the company could not name its devices for nothing. In some ways, there is a paraphrase with Huawei that initially went into the “tens”, where “progress” was noticeable to the naked eye.

Therefore, it is worth underestimating expectations from the S20 of all options, a miracle could not happen, these are not fundamentally new devices in which something unimaginable appeared. This is a good, ongoing development of the line, but not something more.

The emphasis in the “twenty” is placed on those who like to create something new, that is, it is again a camera. The company claims that it is the quality of the cameras that is what people demand from the new flagships, only in 2019 polls showed an increase in the influence of this parameter on the choice of device by 1687%! And the main reasons for upgrading their device were called:

The ability to shoot in poor lighting conditions;
Moving objects, such as children and dogs;
Possibility of optical or digital zoom with high-quality picture on the output.
Therefore, Samsung also focused on cameras in the new line, plus various AI algorithms were added to add visual acuity, as well as new features. We’ll talk about cameras and functions separately, but, looking ahead, I’ll note that this is one of the first devices with 8K video, which goes well with the company’s line of TVs. Now the interconnection of different devices is becoming apparent.

The models of the previous season remain on the market, they do not go anywhere. Prices will change on them not as much as we would like, they will become more affordable, but new items come out at a price comparable to what we saw at the start of sales a year ago. In the new row, there was no place for a compact smartphone like the S10e, since the latter remains on the market, it does not go anywhere. The entire line of flagships is built into the lineup from above, expanding it. And this immediately suggests that the high cost will automatically lead to the fact that the popularity of previous models will grow, but new ones will not be able to be sold in the same volumes. These are the laws of the market, the more expensive the model, the less demand for it.

Design, dimensions, controls
The tendencies that each successive flagship should be larger than the previous ones cannot be canceled – manufacturers have become hostages of their approach. I love large devices, the larger the screen, the better – but the question is how the proportions of the device change. So, in the S20 Ultra, the screen is 6.9 inches, which is a record for a smartphone in an ordinary, monolithic case. But the height of the device became 166.9 mm, which is also a lot, it is elongated vertically.

It is impossible to reach the upper edge with one hand, there are many inconveniences. This is a two-handed device. In the S20 / S20 + everything is easier, they are more familiar, although the S20 + is also high, but not a shoulder, the width is comfortable for each model, it is easy to grasp them.

I’m somewhat surprised at how persistently Samsung makes a metal edging for the camera unit; in any case, this line gets jammed, over time, if you don’t use the case, the paint peels off and becomes silver.

One plus 7t

The OnePlus 7T combines all the best features of the 7 Pro, like a 90 Hz display and a three-camera system, at a lower price. The smartphone is priced at $ 599 (59 thousand rubles), it is one of the best phones on the market.

Speed, functionality and experience have always been a key part of OnePlus’ spirit. Her devices invariably delivered one of the most comfortable sensations on Android at a price affordable to many. When the 7 Pro was launched, it still did more good than any other phone for the money, but OnePlus clearly wanted to compete in the premium segment rather than dominate the middle class.

The OnePlus 7T comes with the new Warp Charge 30T charger. It’s a 30-watt unit, but OnePlus claims they have optimized power transmission. Therefore, the device can charge phones 27% faster than the Warp Charge 30 in previous models. The charger also protects the phone from overheating by converting the voltage to 5V / 6A in the unit, instead of converting it on the device.

As with the 7 Pro, the 7T also comes with a TPU case. I am always glad to see such additions in the box, especially since OnePlus offers some of the highest quality such accessories on the market.

Design and appearance
The OnePlus 7T looks similar to the OnePlus 7 in front, but is very different in the back. The screen is located slightly higher, which provides a greater ratio of 20: 9. This increases the size of the display to 6.55 inches compared to 6.41 in 7-ke, the change is noticeable in the hand. The phone looks more attractive, and I enjoyed it while working with the device.

The drop-shaped notch on the front is slightly reduced. Despite the fact that it is not so noticeable compared to OnePlus 7, it is nice to see that OnePlus is trying to reduce it as much as possible. Many of the devices that 7T competes with have completely eliminated the cutout, and I’m sure OnePlus will continue to reduce the gaps in its devices over time.

The sides of the device look almost identical to OnePlus 7 and 6T. The volume buttons occupy the left edge, and the power and notification switch are located on the right. Below you will find a speaker, a USB-C port and a tray for two SIM cards. The back of the device is covered with a familiar glass – the same as the OnePlus 6T, 7 and 7 Pro, but this glass contains a completely new camera module. It has a round shape similar to that of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. This is almost the same camera system as in OnePlus 7 Pro, but instead of 3x here 2x – without optical image stabilization. Under the central lens there is a two-color flash.

Unfortunately, OnePlus has not officially certified 7T with an IP rating, which is standard for the company. The manufacturer claims to conduct independent water resistance tests to reduce costs. However, you should not take it in the shower.

Smartphone display
In the new OnePlus 7T we get a 6.55-inch 90 Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 × 1080 Full HD + and an aspect ratio of 20: 9, with HDR10 / HDR + and 42% reduction in blue light certification. Traditionally, OnePlus cameras have not been surprising. The company has always touted large pixels and better performance in low light, but over the years we have not seen significant improvements here. Therefore, it was unexpected when the manufacturer began to release frequent camera software updates for the 7 Pro. At the time of launch, he had a decent set of cameras, but not fantastic. However, over time, the images got better and better, and now they are pretty darn good.

Speaking of the OnePlus 7T, the company has ported improved camera software to this device. With good lighting, the images from the new phone are simply fantastic. For a device that costs less than 40 thousand rubles, this should be one of the best systems available at the moment.

The OnePlus 7T has three cameras at the back, similar to the 7 Pro. The main one is the Sony IMX 586 48-megapixel lens, in which images are compressed to 12 megapixels for better light collection. The wide-angle lens is technically a 13-megapixel sensor, but it produces 12-megapixel shots in order to enable electronic stabilization without noticeable cropping. The third camera is a 2x telephoto lens, compared to 3x in the 7 Pro. Unfortunately, in a 12-megapixel telephoto lens there is no optical stabilization, so when using it, you need to keep the focus more stable.

Photo quality
Images are clear, but not pointed, when the colors are generally gorgeous. There is a noticeable difference in the color profiles of a wide-angle, standard, and telephoto lens. This is probably due to the automatic white balance and the use of different sources at different focal lengths.

The dynamic range is very good, but it can be a little aggressive if the image has a lot of contrast. This is typical for smartphone cameras as they try to balance shadows and highlights. In a balanced state, I like the color profile that the 7T creates. It can be very moody in a good way, but it’s nice to get such stylized photos right from your smartphone’s camera.

Since OnePlus often improves on camera software, I won’t be surprised if we get a lot of updates in a short amount of time. The manufacturer even added a motor to the camera system so that we can take super-macro images – the resulting images are quite amazing. Then I felt how telephone cameras are beginning to become tools for everyday life.

All in all, I’m incredibly impressed with the camera system in the new OnePlus. In this price range it is difficult to find something better.


OnePlus 7T runs on Oxygen OS 10 based on the Android 10 operating system, making it one of the first devices with the latest version of Android. The update makes obvious changes, like new navigation gestures and an option for dark mode. But, OnePlus says the software has over 370 settings and optimizations. My only comment on this version of Oxygen OS is the new gesture system. It is based on Android 10 gestures, so this is not exactly a OnePlus bug. You swipe up to get to the main screen, drag left or right to return, or up and hold for multitasking. I often had problems with multitasking, and the phone immediately returned to the application in which I was just in. Here you need to wait for the multitasking menu to pop up, and I think it is worth improving.

Performance and Tests
The heart of the OnePlus 7T is Qualcomm’s most powerful processor today – the Snapdragon 855 Plus. It is paired with an Adreno 640 GPU graphics accelerator, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory UFS 3.0. The motto of OnePlus has long been the slogan – “fast and smooth,” it is not surprising that the legacy continues. Oxygen OS is already quite minimalistic and optimized, but it is the powerful components under the case that make this device incredibly smooth and fast.

Unfortunately, there is no room for expansion via microSD cards. Given that OnePlus offers only one specification for this phone, it’s nice to see 8 GB of RAM. The manufacturer has long been known for offering killer features at a low price, and this continues.

In tests, OnePlus 7T shows very good results. He scored 400 713 points in AnTuTu against 369 029 in Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus. In 3DMark it knocked out 6163 and 5408, in OpenGL and Vulcan, compared with 5692 and 5239 on Note 10 Plus. At Geekbench, I got 3690 and 11452 for single-core and multi-core tests, compared to Note 10 Plus scores of 3434 and 10854. In the Gary Speed Test G, the new 7 Pro completed the test in 1 minute 30 seconds, much like the Galaxy Note Plus.

Audio and sound
Alas, the OnePlus 7T does not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack, although it does have dual stereo speakers and they are very loud. When I tested them compared to Galaxy Note 10 Plus converters, they were noticeably louder and did not seem to be distorted at all, even at maximum volume. The bass was a little lacking, but the sound seemed clearer. In general, I really liked these speakers, and I think that you will also like them if you listen to music without an external source.
